Al-Qaeda’s Strategy and Struggles
Documents released by Special Operations Command through West Point's Combating Terrorism Center reveal some of the struggles of post 9/11 al-Qaeda. Also revealed is the strategic goal, or "end game" for al-Queda:
The documents show al-Qaeda is committed to waging a holy war against "dictators of the Earth and secular groups" that will end only when "everyone believes in Allah."Well, there you go. And of course, that means "by any means necessary". It also means that those who refuse to "believe" will be summarily killed. Fairly simple, fairly straight forward, and something which should remove all doubt as to what the west faces in the WoT.

If Israel Falls, the West Follows

In particular, many people seem not to buy the analogy with Hitler and the 1930s, in terms of the nature of Iran's threat to world peace.
Hitler did not have the potential of leading a billion people, but the Iran/Hezbollah/Hamas/Al Qaeda axis could conceivably come to dominate a billion Muslims. Hitler also never managed to build nuclear weapons; Iran could.
Unfortunately, it seems the West is waiting for a major disaster or deterioration of the situation before rising to its own defense, as if 9/11 and subsequent attacks were not enough.
The irony is that the West has many ways to win, while has Iran has only one: Depending on the West volunteering not to defend itself.

A liar, a thief, a rapist, and a murderer. That’s not a man. Take it away.
Response to Kofi Annan’s farewell speech
While Kofi Annan is admittedly not a rapist or murderer, he is a liar who may have knowingly tolerated theft, murder (genocide in Darfur and Rwanda), and child rape during his tenure as Secretary-General. He is not anything that a decent person would recognize as a man, and it is high time for him to be taken away as well.

Feelings Hurt
A Q&A with Al-Jazeera Editor-in-Chief Ahmed Sheikh:
Q: Do you mean to say that if Israel did not exist, there would suddenly be democracy in Egypt, that the schools in Morocco would be better, that the public clinics in Jordan would function better?
A: I think so.
Q: Can you please explain to me what the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has to do with these problems?
A: The Palestinian cause is central for Arab thinking.
Q: In the end, is it a matter of feelings of self-esteem?
A: Exactly. It’s because we always lose to Israel. It gnaws at the people in the Middle East that such a small country as Israel, with only about 7 million inhabitants, can defeat the Arab nation with its 350 million. That hurts our collective ego.
Those numbers should give pause to those who think Arab states to be the underdogs in this particular conflict. thanks to Tim B and WorldPoliticsWatch
Even If We Leave Now, We'll Be Back
The Coming Of Gulf War III By David Rothkopf
Strategic redeployment. Phased drawdown. Exit strategy. However one phrases it, Washington seems to be turning a page in the story of Iraq..it seems quite possible that a Democratic president may be the one compelled to wage the Third Gulf War.
What plausible scenarios could draw even a war-weary United States back into the Middle East, into a Gulf War III? Clearly, the confrontation with Iran -- over its regional policies, support of terrorists and desire to acquire nuclear weapons -- tops the listThe Iranian threat is magnified because it could trigger an arms race for a "Sunni bomb" to offset the "Shiite bomb." What if Jordan, Pakistan or Saudi Arabia fell into fundamentalist hands? Washington Post
