Castro's Cuba

This clip is satirical and has nothing to do with the middle east except it's possible that Chavez
a US hater is aligning himself with Tehran and plans to bring the Cubans on board to a possible replay of a variation of the Cuban Missile crisis.

Iran issues death fatwa on Azeri writer

What was that again, Mr. Ahmadinejad? "We all deplore injustice, the trampling of peoples' rights and the intimidation and humiliation of human beings"? Do we really, now? "Iran issues fatwa on Azeri writer," by Frances Harrison for BBC News, with thanks to Morgaan Sinclair:
One of Iran's most senior clergymen has issued a fatwa on an Azeri writer said to have insulted the Prophet Muhammad.
The call on Muslims to murder Rafiq Tagi, who writes for Azerbaijan's Senet newspaper, echoes the Iranian fatwa against Indian writer Salman Rushdie.
It was issued by the conservative Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Fazel Lankarani.

Iraqui Wife Reports From the Front on Pres Bush visit to Iraq

Iraqi wife reports from the front lines...on Bush visit

So Bush claimed that Iraq hasnt slipped into civil war...Hmmmm and a big Hmmm too. What does he call whats happening right now then??? A game of Hide and seek??? Ask anyone here, anyone, and they will tell you this IS a civil war. Ask a 5 year old kid.
Mr Bush, spare me the BS, and for once, once in your life say something truthful. Listen to what the real Iraqis are saying....He brought on the Iraqi Study Group, which does not include a single Iraqi person. How can you solve a problem without knowing its roots??? how can he be practical in making decisions that affect the 26 million people living here??? I dunno why its so difficult to utter the words "civil war"....Are they waiting for Iraq to disappear ...The end result is the obliteration of the innocent Iraqi human. The eradication of the innocent Iraqi blood. They all have become draculas, draculas feeding on the Iraqi blood.

Why is it ? Americans Just Can't Seem to Keep A Good Secret !

...And the Highest Bidder is China....

Details of the classified defense technologywere sold to Chinese officials by former defense contractor Noshir S. Gowadia, an Indian-born citizen charged with spying in a federal indictment released by prosecutors in Hawaii.
He also helped the Chinese modify a cruise missile so that it can intercept U.S. air-to-air missiles, and helped Chinese weapons designers improve testing and measurement facilities, the court papers state. Investigators think he was paid as much as $2 million.
Mr. Gowadia worked for B-2 developer and manufacturer Northrop Aircraft Inc. from 1968 to 1989 as part of an ultrasecret special access program for the B-2, and later as a Northrop contractor involved in classified research on missiles and aircraft. He also worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the 1990s.

Russia sells Iran sophisticated missile systems capable of repelling US or Israeli air or missile assaults

November 25, 2006
The first of 29 Tor-M1 systems in the $700m deal have been delivered to Iran by Moscow despite US opposition to their sale of a weapon widely regarded as the most advanced of its kind in the world. Some Iranian and Russian air defense experts say its full deployment at Iran’s nuclear installations will make them virtually invulnerable to American or Israeli attack in the foreseeable future. ITAR-TASS reported that the rockets were to be deployed around Iran’s nuclear sites, including the still incomplete, Russian-built atomic power station at Bushehr Therefore, no more than six months remain, until the Russian Tor-M1 systems are in place, for any attempt to knock out Iran’s nuclear weapons industry.

The Gemayel Warning

Baker fervently believes that US foreign policy should revolve around being bad to its friends and good to its enemies. Consequently he thinks that the US can avoid the humiliation of the defeat he proposes by buying off Syria and IranBut as far as Iran and Syria are concerned, the game has already been called. They are wasting no time collecting their winnings. As Gemayel was being murdered Tuesday in Lebanon, Muallem paid a visit to Baghdad. There he established full diplomatic relations between his country and Iraq. Monday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced his intention to host a three-way summit with his Iraqi and Syrian counterparts. Responding to Ahmadinejad's invitation, Iraqi President Jalal Talibani is scheduled to visit Iran and Syria next week.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad summoned the Iraqi and Syrian presidents to a weekend summit

A gesture to demonstrate that Tehran rather than Washington is now making the rules for progress in the Iraq crisis....None of Iraq’s neighbors are hanging about waiting for a US decision. They are making waves as though American and British troop withdrawals from Iraq are already in sight. By the time the Bush administration picks an option, the Middle East will have moved on, rendering the recommendations from the various US panels irrelevant.

Is France more communist than China ?

I had interesting conversations on this question with my friend Bo Y. Shao who created the equivalent of Ebay in China and sold it to them. Bo thinks France is more communist than China and of course posting it on on my french blog generated many reactions from my french readers. I decided to publish a short podcast below on why Bo thinks France is so "communist" and to organize a panel at Web3 between Bo and Pierre Haski (author of Five Years in China and journalist at the left wing close to bankruptcy Liberation newspaper) where we will discuss precisely this question. It is going to be quite interesting I think...

U.S. Muslim leaders outraged after imams removed from plane

CHICAGO - Muslim leaders expressed outrage on Tuesday after six imams were removed from a commercial airline flight in Minnesota this or what they said was nothing more than trying to say evening prayers.
'They were treated like terrorists ... humiliated,' said Abu Hannoud, civil rights director for the Arizona chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, who said the men were taken off the US Airways flight in handcuffs.

In our culture people tend to pray when death seems imminent , this would naturally alarm western travelers, who are aware of the constant printed threats against them. Should these people try to assimilate and understand the culture in their 'host' countries, or should we here in the west drop our idiosyncrasies and adopt to the muslim culture?
