Saddam Hussein, Died Well but forgot to live Free

It was supposed to be a formal and solemn proceeding carried out by a dispassionate state. But the grainy recording of the execution’s cruel theater summed up what has become increasingly clear on the streets of the capital: that the Shiite-led government that assumed power in the American effort here is running the state under an undisguised sectarian banner.
It left the impression that the government cared more for revenge than for justice, Sunnis said.

“Either it’s terrible incompetence or it’s an act of revenge — a vendetta,” said Adnan Pachachi, a respected Sunni whose political career began long before Mr. Hussein took power. “That was the impression people had.” NY times

He remained with his composure till the very end , in spite of the circus atmosphere, who were these people? and did it take half a dozen masked men to explain to him how he was going to die? Anyone that looked at the video can tell he was taunted.

"God damn you," a guard said.

"God damn you," replied Saddam.

Saddam appeared to smile at those taunting him from below the gallows. He said they were not showing manhood.

Then Saddam began reciting the Shahada, a Muslim prayer that says there is no god but God and Muhammad is his messenger, according to an unabridged copy of the video clip, which was posted on a website.

Saddam made it to midway through his second recitation of the verse. His last word was Muhammad. Then the floor dropped out of the gallows.

Iraqi Wife ..Happy Eid and Happy New Years...

You know, as much as I really didnt want to write about what I saw,as much as I just wanna let it all out. The amateur unedited video that trashed the websites left right and center...Did that video show you the democratic side of the Iraqi Government? Did this government adhere to the International Standards of execution? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE, WHY WERE THEY THERE?

A nation that has finished from one dictator and handed over to a worse one. The daily killings and massacres, the torture and the kidnappings. No they are not better than Saddam, they are his clones. Although I promised myself that I wont divulge into this subject, I couldnt resist. I really couldnt. Before this year ends I wanna extend my thanks to someone, someone who ruined this nation. Lets not dwell in the past, lets talk about today. Mr Bush, Mr Bush Thank You, Thank you for bringing democracy and freedom to Iraq. Thank you Mr Bush, Thank you for removing Saddam, you removed him and replaced him with little clones of his shadow.

Unless all those in government will be kicked out and tried for THEIR crimes against humanity. The Interior minister who had a torture chamber hidden in his ministry. Or the corrupt police force that helps insurgents by providing them with weapons and bombs. Or and or and or...There are many aspects that I can go on about. Nearly 3000 American troops were killed in this war and thousands more injured, injured brutally. Hundreds of thousands Iraqis were killed, and hundredS of ThousandS have fled their homes. Can it get worse? Sure it can. Iran is gloating, Syria is gloating. Oh and even WOB is gloating now. Halleluja, 2007, what do you hold for us I wander. What worse can become of this nation, I dunno...

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - A Danish art group that pokes fun at world leaders targeted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday by placing an advertisement in a Tehran newspaper with an insulting hidden message.
Beneath a picture of the president, a series of apparently sympathetic statements were arranged such as "Support his fight against Bush" and " Iran has the right to produce nuclear energy". The advert was attributed to "Danes for World Peace".
However, the first letters of each phrase, when read from top to bottom, spell out "S-W-I-N-E".

Pakistan Bans Spencer's Book

Robert Spencer's latest book, "The Truth About Muhammad," has been banned in Pakistan.

"The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World’s Most Intolerant Religion," published by Regnery (a HUMAN EVENTS sister company), was pulled off shelves after it was found to contain "objectionable material" about Islam's founder, according to a notification obtained by the Kuwait National News Agency.
The Pakistani government has confiscated all copies and translations of the book.

Worry About OPEC

The dollars they are getting for their oil now buy fewer pounds to spend in Harrods, and fewer euros to spend on the necessities of life in the south of France. Worse still, the dollars they have already accumulated are declining in value

To protect against further declines, the oil producers are diversifying out of dollars and into other currencies, most prominently euros and Japanese yen. The central banks of the members of the OPEC cartel cut their dollar-holdings from 75 percent of total reserves in 2001, to 67 percent at the end of the first quarter of this year, and again to 65 percent at the end of the second quarter.

Reading Shakespeare has dramatic effect on human brain

Research at the University of Liverpool has found that Shakespearean language excites positive brain activity.

Shakespeare uses a linguistic technique known as functional shift that involves, for example using a noun to serve as a verb. Researchers found that this technique allows the brain to understand what a word means before it understands the function of the word within a sentence. This process causes a sudden peak in brain activity and forces the brain to work backwards in order to fully understand what Shakespeare is trying to say.
By throwing odd words into seemingly normal sentences, Shakespeare surprises the brain and catches it off guard in a manner that produces a sudden burst of activity - a sense of drama created out of the simplest of things." read all here ......

The End of Dollar Supremacy

Iran announced yesterday ordering the central bank to direct foreign transactions and transform the state's dollar-denominated assets held abroad to the single European currency instead of the U.S. currency. "The government has ordered the central bank to replace the dollar with the Euro to limit the problems of the executive organs in commercial transactions," government spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham told reporters.

"Some banks abroad are also willing to go Euro in dealing with us and there is no problem if some others want to do business in other exchanges based on their preference," said governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), adding that the country's FRF stands at $ 10 billion, indicating a 35 percent growth over last year.

It has been said that he who holds the gold makes the rules.

Will other oil producing countries in the Middle East, members of The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), follow the suit?

A switch by OPEC members from the U.S. currency to the Euro could enhance the value of the Euro, the new official currency of the European Union (EU) which first came into existence on Jan. 1, 1999, further, ending the U.D. Dollar supremacy.

Iraqi Red Crescent Spoke Too Soon?

During a United Nations meeting in Geneva on Friday, Dr. Jamal Al-Karbouli, the vice president of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, had told a gathering of reporters that “the main problem we are facing is the American forces more than the other forces.

The American military, he said, had been consisitently using overly aggressive tactics — what he even referred to as “attacks” — in searching the agency’s headquarters for insurgents. But the insurgents themselves had never given the Red Crescent any trouble.

“The insurgents, they are Iraqis, a lot of them are Iraqis, and they respect the Iraqis,” he told reporters. “And they respect our (the Red Crescent’s) identity, which is neutrality.”

Al-Qaeda’s Strategy and Struggles

Documents released by Special Operations Command through West Point's Combating Terrorism Center reveal some of the struggles of post 9/11 al-Qaeda. Also revealed is the strategic goal, or "end game" for al-Queda:
The documents show al-Qaeda is committed to waging a holy war against "dictators of the Earth and secular groups" that will end only when "everyone believes in Allah."Well, there you go. And of course, that means "by any means necessary". It also means that those who refuse to "believe" will be summarily killed. Fairly simple, fairly straight forward, and something which should remove all doubt as to what the west faces in the WoT.

If Israel Falls, the West Follows

Saul Singer is Editorial Page Editor and author of the weekly column “Interesting Times” for the Jerusalem Post.

In particular, many people seem not to buy the analogy with Hitler and the 1930s, in terms of the nature of Iran's threat to world peace.

Hitler did not have the potential of leading a billion people, but the Iran/Hezbollah/Hamas/Al Qaeda axis could conceivably come to dominate a billion Muslims. Hitler also never managed to build nuclear weapons; Iran could.

Unfortunately, it seems the West is waiting for a major disaster or deterioration of the situation before rising to its own defense, as if 9/11 and subsequent attacks were not enough.

The irony is that the West has many ways to win, while has Iran has only one: Depending on the West volunteering not to defend itself.

U.S. List Of Friends Being Bakerized ?

Gates admitted in his Senate hearing that Iran is producing many bombs - not just one.

Since it is possible to destroy Israel with just one bomb, the Americans should be asking themselves what Iran needs all those other bombs for.

There are senior military sources in the US who have been warning the administration to take into consideration that the day that Iran attacks Israel with a nuclear bomb, 10 cities in the US and Europe are liable to also be attacked with nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, no one is listening to these voices today.

Guerrillas Guerrilla'd

posted by Mustapha

One of war's most durable lessons is that when your enemies change, your tactics have to change. Too bad Hassan Nassralah didn't heed that aphorism. In fact, on the Lebanese stage, a large, strong and highly organized Hezbollah is finding itself in the awkward position of fighting smaller, faster, and nimbler opponents. In a conventional war, large armies rely on overwhelming attacks with big weapons and complex logistics. This makes them slow and inefficient, and creates openings for faster guerrillas to attack and run. The army gets angry and sends even larger weapons, while the guerrillas just hide and wait for another opportunity to scratch their mighty opponent. At the end, the enemy dies of a thousand small cuts and runs away.

A liar, a thief, a rapist, and a murderer. That’s not a man. Take it away.

Response to Kofi Annan’s farewell speech
While Kofi Annan is admittedly not a rapist or murderer, he is a liar who may have knowingly tolerated theft, murder (genocide in Darfur and Rwanda), and child rape during his tenure as Secretary-General. He is not anything that a decent person would recognize as a man, and it is high time for him to be taken away as well.

USA Today reports that Kofi Annan “blasted” the United States in his long-overdue farewell speech.

Feelings Hurt

A Q&A with Al-Jazeera Editor-in-Chief Ahmed Sheikh:
Q: Do you mean to say that if Israel did not exist, there would suddenly be democracy in Egypt, that the schools in Morocco would be better, that the public clinics in Jordan would function better?
A: I think so.
Q: Can you please explain to me what the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has to do with these problems?
A: The Palestinian cause is central for Arab thinking.
Q: In the end, is it a matter of feelings of self-esteem?
A: Exactly. It’s because we always lose to Israel. It gnaws at the people in the Middle East that such a small country as Israel, with only about 7 million inhabitants, can defeat the Arab nation with its 350 million. That hurts our collective ego.
Those numbers should give pause to those who think Arab states to be the underdogs in this particular conflict. thanks to Tim B and WorldPoliticsWatch

The Coming Of Gulf War III By David Rothkopf
Strategic redeployment. Phased drawdown. Exit strategy. However one phrases it, Washington seems to be turning a page in the story of Iraq..it seems quite possible that a Democratic president may be the one compelled to wage the Third Gulf War.
What plausible scenarios could draw even a war-weary United States back into the Middle East, into a Gulf War III? Clearly, the confrontation with Iran -- over its regional policies, support of terrorists and desire to acquire nuclear weapons -- tops the listThe Iranian threat is magnified because it could trigger an arms race for a "Sunni bomb" to offset the "Shiite bomb." Few Take Ahmadineajad's Warning to Repent Seriously

Read Big Al's letter to Americans on CNN here

From NewsMax: Iran's Ahmadinejad: America's New Pen Pal by Kenneth R. Timmerman. (via Little Green Footballs)Ahmadinejadization Alert by Ali Akbar Dareini for AP, with thanks to James: Citing from the Quran at the close of his letter, he says that if Americans "repent" of their "injustice," they will be blessed with many gifts. "We should all heed the divine Word of the Holy Qur'an," he says.
The context of this particular verse (28:67-28, Sura "Al-Qasas," or The Narration), is very clear. It follows a graphic description of destruction and devastation that will befall those who fail to repent of their injustice.
It also sets out the terms of the tradition Muslim warning to the enemies of Allah. "And never will your Lord destroy the towns until He sends to their mother town a Messenger reciting to them Our Verses." This is precisely what Ahmadinejad is doing in his letter.
Dump Bush, allow the Muslims to destroy Israel, and adopt Islam — or else you will be destroyed. This is Ahmadinejad's message.

Islamofascist allegedly plans to bomb U.S. shopping mall

BY NATASHA KORECKI Staff Reporter
A Muslim convert who talked about his desire to wage jihad against civilians was charged Friday in a plot to set off hand grenades at a shopping mall at the height of the Christmas rush, authorities said. …”He fixed on a day of December 22nd on Friday … because it was the Friday before Christmas and thought that would be the highest concentration of shoppers that he could kill and injure,” said Robert Grant, the agent in charge of the Chicago FBI office.

I am from America, and this tape is to let you guys know, who disbelieve in Allah, to let the enemies of Islam know, and to let the Muslims alike know that the time for jihad is now...be strong, oh Mujahideen...May Allah protect me on this mission we conduct...so do not cry, do not mourn for me,” he said, according to the FBI affidavit.

The Peace Of Islam

...............this piece has been made all the more timely with yesterday’s release of the Iraq Study Group Report which counsels, among other things suicidal and asinine, cooperation with Syria and Iran—cooperation with two of the powers profiting from and responsible for the ongoing carnage in Iraq. If the peace we were seeking was the peace that the mullahs or Muqtada al Sadr were interested in, there would be no Mahdi Army, there would be no Iranian shape charges piercing the armor of U.S. assault vehicles and humvees, there would be no Syrian-trained insurgents. These very simple facts have nonetheless escaped this, to be sure, considerably compensated committee of esteemed…diplomats and lawyers. And naturally, anything that reeks of U.S. defeat and debasement has all the little media vultures swarming and squawking breathlessly as if James Baker had just come down from the mountain to deliver this last, best chance of putting an end to the Iraqi quagmire—the catch is it means surrendering to our enemies. Peace with our Islamic foes, the only peace which they will countenance, is our explicit surrender—and liberals seemingly have no problem with this because in the meantime they can bask in a little temporary fame and renown as bringers of peace—temporary because soon it’ll be time to act surprised when the next catastrophe occurs—then the next demands when come, followed by the next concessions and bit by bit, and piece by piece, we will have made ourselves over in their image out pure cowardice and finally we will be at peace. We will accept our slavery gracefully and we will call it peace. by....... D.T Devareaux

Pearl Harbor 65 years Ago

Five years after Pearl Harbor, the war was over. The Third Reich was kaput. The Japanese were vanquished as well.
But five years and counting after 9/11, there is no victory in sight. There is not even much clarity about why we are fighting, or whom we are fighting

Robert Gates’ reference to an Israeli nuclear weapon was synchronized with Baker’s exclusion of Israel from a Mid East conference

The pair is pursuing a new policy line which sacrifices the traditional US-Israeli alliance for the sake of wooing Iran, Syria and Iraq’s neighbors for help in Iraq. During his senate hearings, Gates confirmed - and indirectly justified - Iran’s quest for a nuclear weapon by declaring that the Islamic republic Iran wants the power of deterrence against “the nuclear countries surrounding them – Pakistan in the east, Russia in the north, Israel in the west and the United States in the Persian Gulf.” DEBKAfile.

But with today also being the 65th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack, I couldn't help but recall, and be inspired by, an article in the latest Objective Standard that I linked to earlier this week: "No Substitute for Victory": The Defeat of Islamic Totalitarianism by John Lewis. In this excellent, must-read essay, Dr. Lewis compares today's approach to war with that of the 1940s. Here's another excerpt:In 1945, Americans knew that there was truly "no substitute for victory," as General MacArthur said in his farewell speech to Congress. In 1945, Americans also knew the meaning of "victory." In other words, continued FDR: We have learned that if we do not pull the fangs of the predatory animals of the world, they will multiply and grow in strength . . . [they] must be disarmed and kept disarmed, and they must abandon the philosophy which has brought so much suffering to the world. The CNN headline captures the essence: Bush tells Iran, Syria how they can join Iraq talks.

The only reason thinking a nuclear attack won't happen because it hasn't happen yet

Just recently, an al-Qaeda field commander in Afghanistan called for Muslims to leave the U.S., particularly the cities of Washington and New York. Some reports suspect that this call is a warning about a potential nuclear attack on the U.S.
These sales to al-Qaeda have been verified by a host of weapons inspectors, including Hans Blix, former director general of the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency. They were even verified by bin Laden and al-Zawahiri in their pronouncements that they have obtained a small arsenal of nuclear weapons from black-market sources. Before leaving office, Attorney General John Ashcroft and Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge both voiced that belief that al-Qaeda's plan to nuke cities throughout the country soon might come to fruition. Bill Keller, editor of The New York Times, concluded that the only reason for thinking a nuclear attack won't happen is because "it hasn't happened yet," adding that such reasoning represents "terrible logic." Symposium: China: Time Bomb Walking

Beijing continues to militarily threaten Taiwan, to support a nuclear North Korea, and to forge alliances with anti-American regimes everywhere, including with Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Iran’s nuclear-aspiring Mullahs.

As President Bush met with Chinese President Hu Jintao at the White House this week, the issue of China’s rise as a global superpower took center stage. Serious concerns are mounting in Washington in regards to China’s increasingly aggressive global posturing.

Iran issues death fatwa on Azeri writer

What was that again, Mr. Ahmadinejad? "We all deplore injustice, the trampling of peoples' rights and the intimidation and humiliation of human beings"? Do we really, now? "Iran issues fatwa on Azeri writer," by Frances Harrison for BBC News, with thanks to Morgaan Sinclair:
One of Iran's most senior clergymen has issued a fatwa on an Azeri writer said to have insulted the Prophet Muhammad.
The call on Muslims to murder Rafiq Tagi, who writes for Azerbaijan's Senet newspaper, echoes the Iranian fatwa against Indian writer Salman Rushdie.
It was issued by the conservative Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Fazel Lankarani.

Iraqui Wife Reports From the Front on Pres Bush visit to Iraq

Iraqi wife reports from the front lines...on Bush visit

So Bush claimed that Iraq hasnt slipped into civil war...Hmmmm and a big Hmmm too. What does he call whats happening right now then??? A game of Hide and seek??? Ask anyone here, anyone, and they will tell you this IS a civil war. Ask a 5 year old kid.
Mr Bush, spare me the BS, and for once, once in your life say something truthful. Listen to what the real Iraqis are saying....He brought on the Iraqi Study Group, which does not include a single Iraqi person. How can you solve a problem without knowing its roots??? how can he be practical in making decisions that affect the 26 million people living here??? I dunno why its so difficult to utter the words "civil war"....Are they waiting for Iraq to disappear ...The end result is the obliteration of the innocent Iraqi human. The eradication of the innocent Iraqi blood. They all have become draculas, draculas feeding on the Iraqi blood.

Why is it ? Americans Just Can't Seem to Keep A Good Secret !

...And the Highest Bidder is China....

Details of the classified defense technologywere sold to Chinese officials by former defense contractor Noshir S. Gowadia, an Indian-born citizen charged with spying in a federal indictment released by prosecutors in Hawaii.
He also helped the Chinese modify a cruise missile so that it can intercept U.S. air-to-air missiles, and helped Chinese weapons designers improve testing and measurement facilities, the court papers state. Investigators think he was paid as much as $2 million.
Mr. Gowadia worked for B-2 developer and manufacturer Northrop Aircraft Inc. from 1968 to 1989 as part of an ultrasecret special access program for the B-2, and later as a Northrop contractor involved in classified research on missiles and aircraft. He also worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the 1990s.
